Feeling love in the air? It’s no wonder: with more than two million people getting married each year in the United States alone – and most of the weddings taking place in June – Springtime is filled with wedding showers.
Are you looking for ideas to make your celebration shine? Choose a wedding shower theme to make it really stand out.
To add some flair to your wedding shower, consider a spa theme. Guests can choose between manicures, pedicures, body treatments, facials and massages. Afterwards, guests can unwind with an elegant spa lunch.
For the couple who has everything, consider hosting a wines shower. The theme is tasteful and gives the bride-to-be a start on a high-end wine cellar. Assign each guest a different grape or region to ensure variety. If you’d like the shower to include a tasting, you can hire an expert to conduct it.
Teatime is an honored tradition of refinement and elegance perfect for a wedding shower. Whether or full tea or light tea, this type of gathering is a good format for mingling and leaves time for activities.
A wonderful idea for the bride who already has all of the basics, a holiday shower is the icing on the cake. Assign each guest a holiday, and the resulting gifts will become family heirlooms. Suggestions include china serving pieces etched with holly, crystal ornaments, tasteful Hanukkah decorations and seasonal table centerpieces.
A spa shower focusing on linens can be quite luxurious. High thread count sheets, monogrammed towels, feather beds and quality down comforters are just some of the many gift options. The shower accents can be complimentary: a personalized table cloth, high-end soap party favors and an elegant napkins/rings centerpiece.
In celebration of this romantic season, Posh Party Box has added three new wedding shower party boxes to it’s collection, for a total of four elegant options: Something Blue, Posh and Pampered, New Beginnings and Unforgettable. Visit our web www.poshpartybox.com site to find out more.
When we were young, parties were simple – pin the tail on the donkey, cake and ice cream, presents. Today, kids expect more and, as parents, we want to make them happy! There are limitless resources and ideas online. We’ve put together a few guidelines and ideas to get your creative juices flowing.
The eternal conundrum, it’s difficult for many parents to decide. For younger kids, it is best to stick as close to the rule of thumb as possible: one guest for each year of your child’s life. Once your child is older, ask him or her whom they’d like to invite. When the number becomes too large, some parents throw one party for each group of kids: school class, teams and clubs.
Many of us try but aren’t able to stick to a small party rule. If not, it’s ok! Just make sure you have enough adults to assist with party activities. For younger kids, it’s not usually an issue as many parents will stay at the party with their child. Once your children are older, parents will drop off kids so plan the event carefully so that it runs smoothly.
Today’s parties are often themed. Popular themes may change over time. For solid theme ideas, consider what your child enjoys and then research possible decorations, activities and food that fit within that theme. Today’s popular kids parties include themes built around pirates, camping, glamour sleepovers and tea parties.
Many parties today are the kind we used to dream about when we were young. It’s become commonplace to bring in celebrity look-a-likes, trains, petting zoos and professional entertainment. Some may even decide to host their party at a spa!
To make your pirate party stand out, consider adding one or more of these show stopping elements: trained parrots with a handler, celebrity impersonator like Johnny Depp/Captain Jack Sparrow and a treasure hunt filled with real-life treasures ranging from cash to sporting event tickets.
For a glamorous girls’ sleepover, begin your evening my picking up guests in a limosine. Once guests arrive, be sure to have a red carpet laid out at your entrance. Consider hiring a celebrity impersonator like Hillary Duff or one of the Cheetah Girls. Be sure to serve fun finger foods on silver platters and, when it’s time to wind down, have a movie premiere of an old favorite or a new movie.
Try this recipe at your wedding shower. It’s classy yet easy to make.

Stir in turkey or ham mixture. Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold gently into turkey or ham mixture. Bake in greased 2-quart casserole dish at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes.
Serves 6-8 people.
A unique recipe for your wedding shower, the edible gold adds a touch of class you won’t find elsewhere.
Sprinkle ORO FINO (edible gold) course powder onto parchment paper. Cut the lemon and use one wedge to moisten the rim of the champagne glass. Twist the rim of the glass in the edible gold sprinkles until the rim is covered. Mix the vodka, orangecello, champagne/sparkling wine and orange juice. Serve immediately.
